I wish my son could stay a child forever, so I could protect him from the dangers of the world forever, but he can’t, and he won’t. All children - mine happens to be autistic but this is a universal truth - grow up and independent of their parents. It’s not easy for said parents when they do.

To Intervene or To Not Intervene
I am constantly weighing when to step in with school and let my son have a pass at something – an extra day to study on a test, extra time for a homework assignment – and when to let him take the hard knocks that come with being irresponsible. Also, where do gym clothes disappear to?
My Son The Clam
My son doesn’t talk to me. A grown up, Levis and Adidas clad clam has replaced my beautiful little boy. This monosyllabic 20-something adult makes me miss even my son’s surly adolescence. Is this normal?
